How did you find about the Philippines?
On a map when I was 5 years old, and then read the “Children of the World” Encyclopedia. Nowadays I find information via search engines.
What Philippine locations have you visited?
Manila, Palawan, Luzon, Cebu, Bohol, Boracay, Mindoro, Busuanga, Panglao.
What are your opinions on the following things about the Philippines?
Places
Awesome places! I don’t know which is my favourite as there are so many beautiful places and everywhere are “Kodak moments!” I particularly like Palawan, in particular Honda Bay and El Nido area in the North. The rice terraces and old villages in the Banuae area are amazing, and so is exploring the Sagada area.
Food
Frankly speaking – food is not a reason I visit the Philippines. Fresh seafood is very good but generally speaking, restaurant food is not too good and most of the time well below the temperature at which it should be consumed. I always have to ask the waiters to warm up the food.
Culture
Philippines is certainly not a top destination to me for culture, but there are some colourful festivals which should not be missed.
People
People is certainly a reason for visiting the Philippines. I have been to 93 countries and the Philippines rank among the top 5 for “friendly people and easy communication”. Many people, in particular kids and teens, speak English well enough for easy communication. They’re not afraid either to practice their English on foreign visitors. I love the Filipinos!
What do you dislike about the Philippines?
The “not hot enough cooked food”
What do you like about the Philippines?
The seafood, scenery, people, diving.
